Spiderwick Chronicles and More

Have you seen this trailer yet? The Spiderwick Chronicles is a no-miss movie. My yoga instructor had some of the free screening post cards and gave them out during class yesterday. A free movie that David and I wanted to see since I've seen the preview? Why not?! We actually used this as our opportunity to celebrate our Valentine's Week. Yes, we celebrate it the whole week, and it was David's idea. :)

The movie was great and the acting was excellent as well. The twin brothers were played by the same actor but he would have you fooled to think there really are two people acting there.

If you like The Chronicles of Narnia, then you would like this movie as well. I've never read the books, so I couldn't compare and tell you any differences, but both David and I really enjoyed this movie.

Speaking of Chronicles of Narnia, the second one is coming out later this year. Can't wait.

So in other news, I think the package fairy must know that I like getting packages, so she has one sent to me today - From my best friend Itchy. Itchy lives in Hawaii and we haven't seen each other for over a year now. Hopefully she is moving back to the mainland soon so we can see each other more often.

She sent me a box of tea native of Hawaii, a handmade beeswax candle coconut scent in a coconut shell, a pair of mother of pearl earrings, a Vera Bradley eyeglasses case, and a handmade note of course! :) My Itchy is very crafty! Thanks girlie!

So I think I jinxed us from the previous post about snow - we got one last night, but when I got out this morning, all we got was slush!!!

It poured the whole day so now we have absolutely no snow on the ground. If I didn't take a picture, you probably wouldn't believe me either. And this weather only prompted a nice cup of hot cocoa -

It's the Candy Cane Hot Cocoa mix from InsanKnitty along with her homemade marshmallows in my new mug and spoon/stir from one of my auditors. YUM. I think I won the best drink of the day contest at work if there was one - on content AND mug! Even my boss was impressed.

The Golden Compass

This movie is coming out next Friday, but the movie theater near me had a Sneak Preview today so David and I had a little date night and saw it. IT IS SOOO GOOD! When it comes out, you all have to watch it!

I first heard about the name from Sneaksleep, who told me about the trilogy and that the stories are very good and I should read them. I haven't bought the books yet but I'll do that pretty soon.

Don't be disappointed with the ending of the movie - remember, it is a trilogy!!!

Stranger Than Fiction

If one day you woke up and were following your routine, all of the sudden, a voice showed up, describing what you are current doing, narrating your life, what would you do?

Meet Harold Crick, the hero in Stranger Than Fiction. Harold is the IRS agent, who has a routine and leads a boring, lonely life. But on this particular Wednesday, he woke up and started hearing an author narrating his life, and it changed his life.

When David picked out the movie, I wasn't too interested, but I thought to myself that I can use the time to knit, so I agreed. But after sitting here watching it, I have to say the story is brilliant and I have never seen a movie like it, or even a book.

If you had doubt about this movie, not so sure about it, I suggest you to see it. It might not be to your liking at the end, but I can assure you, it isn't a movie you will forget. There is just nothing like it out there.

Harry Potter and the Order of Pheonix

If you are expecting a lengthy 3-hour movie like the previous movies, you will be absolutely disappointed. It has all the essential from the book, but not everything. The movie started off with Harry facing the dementors in the muggle world and got expelled from Hogwarts, then was transported to Sirius's house until the trial. The movie did not elaborate on Percy, who had since graduated since the 4th book and started working for the Ministry of Magic, and distant himself from his family because of his belief in his own career. Tonks, who has the purple hair, suppose to be in love with Lupin the werewolf, and die in the book, but that was not in the movie either. Sirius, however, did die like the book described. Also in the movie, it really showed Ginny had become a very strong witch, although maybe still immature, but strong, in numerous places of the movie.

Overall, I think the movie represents the 5th book, however, I wish it had showed more characters. David and I went to the IMAX 3D version of this movie and had awesome seats for it. Although only 20 minutes of it was 3D, but it was still worth it - it was during the time when they were in the Ministry to retrieve the prophecy. Needless to say, the 3D had a very cool effect on all the actions.

This past week, I had made David sit with me and watched all the previous Harry Potter movies so I can remember what happened and continue with the 5th one. I will be reading the 6th book this up coming week so I can continue the reading to the 7th and hopefully have a happy ending. I am excited to finally get to book 7 and I can't wait for next Saturday. All my knitting projects will have to wait!

Edit: Apparently, I got the two books confused!!! Marla kindly pointed that Tonk didn't die in Book 5 and plays an important character in Book 6. David is currently on Page 88 and that's a bout an hour of reading... I guess I'll work on MS3 until he is done then...

What have I been up to?

Happy Sunday! Where have I've been, you asked? Well, lets see...

Monday morning, I received a call from certain someone for something special for Tuesday. Monday night, I went to Walgreens at 10:30pm to look for some make up since I threw out all my old make up not too long ago. Also I got this in the mail:

Tuesday afternoon, I went to the place for that something special. More on that later.

Wednesday night, I went to Stitch n Bitch and started a Neiman Marcus Scarf. And I am almost done with it!!! All I need now is a ribbon yarn to weave through it.

Thursday night, David and I took some Germans to dinner at the cookhouse. We of course stuffed ourselves silly, being the Cookhouse is so good... hush puppies... fried cream corn pops... slow smoked ribs... yummmmm...

Friday night, David and I went to see the Casino Royale. It has some of the same characters from the original one but the story line seems to be different. We now have to go rent the original one so we can watch it and compare the difference. The movie itself was very good - even though the Bond was blonde.

Saturday and Sunday (today) was exhausting because I was at the security exam crash course. It's a lot of info in two days. But it is over. Now I just have to really study.

Now I'm just gonna go sit on the couch and pay attention to David and the dogs...
