The Harlot

Was at Northampton! I drove up with Archiknist and Costumchick up to Webs to see Stephanie Pearl-McPhee to give a talk. She was hilarious and did not disappoint.

This was my attempt of taking a picture of the Harlot from far away in the dark in the Calvin Theater.

After the talk, we went back to WEBS to do a little shopping. After a very long line, I finally got to talk to Stephanie, and had her signed couple of the books.

I had my sock picture taken, and you will have to go over to her blog to see the picture when she posts it later.

And after another very long line, I left WEBS with these:

I had "At Knit's End", I just brought it along with me for the signing. I bought couple of the "Thins I Learned from Knitting". One for me, and one is a gift. Of course, with 25% off all sock yarn, I couldn't stop myself and bought a skein of Franklin, and a skein of Playful Weekend, which will be part of another scarf I made, but only needed some ribbon threading to be completed!!! One less ZZZ project on my Ravelry notebook!!! Speaking of Ravelry, guess who I saw at WEBS?????

Jess, the co-creater of the Ravelry!!! She also gave me my new "Where are my stitches at?" pin :). I will be seeing her next weekend when I go to Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival, so I can complete my collection.

Overall, it was a great trip and we had fun, despite the massive amount of people.

So on a complete different note, I want to show off a little something I made for Anphoe awhile ago:

I saw something similar on a jewelry magazine few weeks ago and wanted to give it a try, and Anphoe had said she needed a pin so her Sunshine top won't keep falling off her shoulder. Few days after, viola! I had fun making it, and I hope she likes it.

Well, I'm exhausted after much excitement from today. Off to rest and read some Harlot-ism before I fall asleep!!! And if you have a chance to see Steph, I suggest you to go to the talk, even if you don't read her blog, or are a follower of the Yarn Harlot, because she will make you laugh, until tears come out of your eyes!

And Then There Is More...

YARN!

My parents are visiting from Taiwan so I didn't get to go to Maryland Wool and Sheep Festival, where many of my fellow SnB friends are at. But the good thing is, I get to see my parents.

My mom had recently pick up knitting, so needless to say, many hours had been spent talking about yarn and knitting and patterns. Then my parents asked: Is there a place that sells yarn around here? Of course, after that question, I had to take them to WEBS! I mean, you CAN NOT compare to WEBS and I think my parents would agree that there is no other place to buy yarn but WEBS. Lets review our newly added stash:

So did you notice how many balls of yarn we bought? YEAH... A LOT! The top pictures are for my parents and grandma, and the bottom pictures are for me. I thought I did well myself. Not too much yarn but some new patterns to use up my yarn :) Well, now I have a lot of projects in my plate - 3 vests for my dad, a shirt for my mom. Notice the Regia I bought? I joined the Summer of Socks 2007 by Zarzuela! So that means I actually have to knit socks this summer since I wanted to compete for the traveling socks contest :) Now the question is, do the socks have to be completed when they travel or they can be WIP??? Hmmm... Zarzuela!?!?

After spending 3 and half hours at WEBS, it was well passed our lunch time, so we ask my GPS for a little help and it led us to Sylveste's Restaurant - It serves breakfast and lunch. We were super hungry and checked out the menu real quick and went in and sat down. I ordered a Hot Chocolate named Candy Cane and Chowder and Salad, mom had Corned Beef Hash with Sunny Side Up and Dad had Huevos Rancheros, which is "Two eggs served atop black beans with melted cheddar along with grilled homemade corn bread, our homemade salsa and sour cream". They were mmm mmm good!

Did I tell you how inexpensive this place is? With all that food, it was less than 30 dollars!!! We went away full and happy, and with a small doggy bag.

Although I didn't get to go to Maryland this year, I am still having a good time and certainly added more yarn to my yarn wall. All I can say is, I can't wait for the WEBS tent sale in two weeks!

Vermont and Surprise!!!

Today was a busy day. I woke up at 6:00am to work on my business till around 11:00am, then David and I drove up to Vermont. We went to look at a house up there. It has 1.9 acres of land and the house has 3 bedroom with one car attached garage.

My first snow of the year!

Well, the house was in a very nice location. It is located at town of Whitingham, which is quite small. The house is right on the reservoir and has a nice view of it. The house itself is not exactly I called it "move in condition". Half of the house is in great shape, but the inside need to be gutted to be redone.

On the way there, David surprised me and stopped at this place! I was so excited!!! We walked around and I found some stuff I really wanted, but I settled with what David found in the warehouse:

You can see why I was excited, right? :) The yarn was on closeouts! It was $3.99 a ball and they gave me 20% discount for buying over $60!!! Basically, my Luxe was free! :) Can't beat that! I am planning on making Cable Pullover or Cable Cardigan from Luxe with them.

Today was a busy day, indeed, and a very happy day for me :)

Vacation at Killington

This weekend was AWESOME! granted, it was a lot of money, but it was relaxing and I had a lot of fun. Krista, David's best friend's wife, had booked a condo for this past weekend for Scott as Christmas present, and invited David and I to join them. David loves to ski so off we went to join the couple for a weekend getaway at Killington.

David and I took Friday off so we can enjoying ourselves a little. We drove up and stopped on the way to WEBS, one of the more famous yarn store, in Northampton, MA. I bought a new stash of yarn to make a sweater! Hopefully, I will finish it in time to wear it!

The second stop was at Jacksonville, VT. We went and saw this little property that's really a tear down, but the property itself is on town sewer which is rare in Vermont. David is really thinking about buying the property. If we get it and rebuild it, that would be an awesome vacation spot, both summer and the winter times.

Friday night, the four of us went to Wobbly Barn Steak House. They have a very small menu but everything on it was excellent. We wanted to go out, but then getting up early didn't help. We all end up going to bed around 9.

Saturday, everyone got up bright and early. The three of them went skiing around 8 and I stayed behind to do my crafty projects. I finished designing the SWE Award Dinner invitation and I print out some of the things I wanted to include in my anniversary scrapbook. Krista stayed behind after lunch and we did a little shopping and a lot of girl talk, which is what we really needed.

Sunday, today, David and I got up extra early to come home because he needed to meet up with people from work to go to Germany. He will be gone for 5 days and then going to Georgia next weekend. Home alone with the dogs, should be very interesting...
